This is one of the first courses in methodology introduced at Sofia University. During the period 1949-1957 and 1972-1976, the course was called Methodology of the Latin Language, and during the period 1959-1972 and from 1975 until now, the course has been announced as Methodology of Classical Languages. The first lecturer was Yordan Bratkov, who taught a lecture course in methodology from 1949 to 1975. After the establishment of the Department, he was appointed a part-time lecturer, as he also held other positions within the University. His successor was Krasimir Banev (1975-1996). After his sudden death, the course was taught for a year by the part-time lecturer Momchil Banev (1996-1997), and since 1998, Gloria Bakardzhieva has been appointed a full-time assistant in this discipline.
