This is one of the three disciplines in methodology introduced at Sofia University in 1949. Ana Ilieva was the first lecturer who taught the theoretical lecture course in German language methodology for almost thirty years from 1949 to 1978. During this period, she became a habilitated professor and was elected the first professor of German language methodology at Sofia University. After that, the course was taken over by Daniela Stoycheva, who continued to teach it with a two-year break. During this period, she was replaced by Pavlina Stefanova (1989-1991). The theoretical course in German language methodology for second-degree and part-time studies is taught by Andreya Krupev. For a short time, the assistant professor in German language methodology was Maria Marangozova (1969-1972). Since 2015, the course has been taken over by Andreya Krupev.
