At an event held in the auditorium of the University of Geneva, prof. Hristo Pimpirev was announced as the winner of the Konstantin Katsarov Grand Award for 2025.

The initiator of the nomination of Hristo Pimpirev was Prof. Dimitar Vesselinov, DSc. He is a lecturer at the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology, the Department of Methodology of Foreign Language Teaching at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski". Prof. Veselinov is an established scholar in the field of philological sciences, with many years of teaching and research activity, author of scientific publications and an active participant in the academic life of the university.

Prof. Pimpirev was unanimously selected by the Katsarov Fund Committee for his contribution to Antarctic research upon the proposal of an international initiative committee. Since 2023, the Katsarov Fund Committee has annually awarded the Konstantin Katsarov Award to a Bulgarian individual or institution based in Bulgaria whose merits are recognized as exceptional and of exceptional value to Bulgaria.
