On 1 April 2026, a team from the Department of "Methodology of Foreign Language Teaching" launched the implementation of project # 80-10-36 | 01.04.2026 with the title "Research on the use of artificial intelligence and digital tools by students and teachers for academic purposes". The project is funded by the Scientific Research Fund at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski".

The head of the team is assoc. prof. Petar Todorov, PhD.

The team members are:

prof. Magdalena Kostova-Panayotova, DSc,

prof. Dimitar Vesselinov, DSc,

assist. prof. Niya Nikolova (junior scholar).

The project duration is eight months and involves the following activities:

• conducting a survey with students and teachers on the use of artificial intelligence and digital tools in their research and academic activities;

• performing a statistical analysis of the results of the survey;

• holding a roundtable to present the project results and exchange experience on the topic with stakeholders;

• publishing an article in a scientific journal.
