The Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Turkey, Angel Cholakov, and prof. Dimitar Vesselinov, DSc of the Department of Methodology of Foreign Language Teaching donated to the library at Galatasaray University in Istanbul a collection of six volumes of Dictionary of French Words in the Bulgarian Language, published by St. Kliment Ohridski University Press.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Turkey, Angel Cholakov, and prof. Dimitar Vesselinov, DSc of the Department of Methodology of Foreign Language Teaching donated to the library at Galatasaray University in Istanbul a collection of six volumes of Dictionary of French Words in the Bulgarian Language, published by St. Kliment Ohridski University Press. It is the result of a fifteen-year joint work by Anna Angelova and Dimitar Vesselinov, who have created an original cumulative historical-etymological dictionary of the thesaurus type.
The occasion for this donation was the solemn celebration of the 30th anniversary of the accession of Bulgaria and Romania to the International Organization of La Francophonie. The event was organized by Galatasaray University and was held in the presence of the French Ambassador to Turkey Hervé Magro, the Romanian Ambassador Stefan Tincea, the Luxembourg Ambassador Ms. Angel Da Cruz, the Bulgarian Ambassador Angel Cholakov, the Secretary General of the Organization for the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Lazar Comanescu, as well as representatives of the Francophone consular and cultural services in Istanbul.
Prof. Dimitar Vesselinov delivered a plenary lecture on the topic: “Francophone Interferences in the Balkans” within the framework of the discussion forum on the role of Francophonie in Southeast Europe, held with Prof. Enis Tulcea (Turkey), Prof. Florian Turcanu (Romania) and Prof. Stanislav Stretenovic (Serbia). The idea of the Francophone forum was by the Romanian Ambassador to Turkey and the academic governing body of Galatasaray University. One university researcher from each of the four neighboring Balkan countries - Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and Turkey - who has contributed with his or her activities to the popularization of the French language and Francophone values in the region of Southeast Europe was invited to the discussion forum.
