Katarina Postolov

graduated in 2024

My name is Katarina Postolov and I majored Scandinavian Studies at Sofia University. In a few words, I would like to express my gratitude to the Department of Methodology of Foreign Language Teaching, and especially to the chief assistant professor Kalin Vasilev, PhD – for the way he presented the material and for all the guidance he gave us. The seminars and essay writing lessons were especially useful to me. This was a way to learn to express our own opinion, to think critically and with arguments. The practical training in schools was also very important. It gave me the opportunity to enter a classroom, stand in front of students and apply my knowledge in practice.

I also remember how chief assistant professor Vassilev, PhD often brought us interesting articles related to language teaching – outside the standard program, but extremely useful and inspiring. They helped us connect theory with real examples and modern approaches and provoked interest and a desire to learn more about teaching.

After graduating, I taught for a while at a school for Scandinavian languages, and many of the things I learned in the department were very useful to me. I currently work in a different field, but I use the communication and analytical skills I developed during my studies every day.

I have fond memories and respect for the teachers, who always approached me with understanding, patience, and professionalism.
